Dr. Martin McCombs has been specializing in issues of mental health, human sexuality and sex therapy for more than 25 years.  Early in his career he pioneered a unique practice as a clinically-supervised gay male surrogate partner (International Professional Surrogates Assn., www.surrogatetherapy.org) at a time when the Masters & Johnson model of Surrogate Partner Therapy was still considered a radical approach.  His career has included numerous leadership roles in the LGBT Community (Director of Counseling Services, LA Gay and Lesbian Center; Executive Director, Long Beach Gay and Lesbian Center, Director of Education; Northwest AIDS Foundation) as well as  professional leadership recognition for his expertise in public health and human sexuality (Price Prevention Fellows, US CDC; grantee, consultant, AmFAR; Executive Director, Mary Magdalene Project).  Dr. McCombs moved from a part-time to a full-time consulting practice in July 2011.

Dr. McCombs received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the APA-approved doctoral program at California School of Professional Psychology / LA (1989, Rhodes research award); his Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University / LA (1982, Valedictorian) and a B.S. degree in Communications from Ball State University, Muncie IN, in 1978.
